Background:

Rendell is a co-educational county primary school. The school was originally built at the turn of the century and has undergone a major building and refurbishment scheme. It now offers a purpose-built environment, which contains modern facilities and equipment. Continuing development has focused on the school grounds, which now contain a wild area comprising of a pond and many new trees and shrubs. Also the school field has been developed with the support of SNAIL (School Nature Areas in Leicestershire) and 550 trees and shrubs have been planted. Recently a new computer suite was opened containing 12 computers and a mini suite of five was also opened in the library. There are now 29 computers on the pupil's network all having broadband access to the internet. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including recorder group, choir, French, Asian dance, science club, football club, computer club, netball, cricket and basketball. The school also arranges for various residential visits. It has achieved Sport England Activemark award and Healthy Schools award. The school aims to create a secure, stimulating and supportive learning environment, which is free from fear and anxiety.
