Background:
Situated in the village of East Leake in southwest Nottinghamshire, the school was built in 1956 and expanded in phases to 1972. It serves the surrounding rural area and pupils come from local villages. It has eight acres of playing fields on site and a full size artificial pitch enabling the provision, in winter, of football pitches, hockey and rugby pitches. It has a strong tradition in music, sports and drama while links with Germany and France include work experience abroad for sixth formers. The school aims to give students the experience of school as a caring, supportive community where life is enjoyable and where there is equality of opportunity for all regardless of race, gender, culture and ability.
