Background:
Shenton is a primary school admitting boys and girls from age three to 11. It is situated at the northern end of the Highfields District. It is a modern building with pleasant well-maintained grounds and play areas. There is a separate nursery and a double mobile used as a parent's room. The infant department is an open plan unit of six bases. There is a drama hall, studio and physical education hall, which also doubles as a dining room. The junior department consists of eight classrooms, which are opened into double sized rooms to facilitate team teaching. There is a library, a computer suite and an art area. Children are introduced to a wide range of activities including gymnastics, dance and drama, team games and sports. They are also taken on regular educational trips as part of their education. The school aims to provide a stimulating and high quality learning environment in which all pupils can flourish and are valued equally.
