Background:
South Charnwood High School is a secondary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is 10 to 14. The school is situated in 20 acres of open countryside and serves the nearby villages of Markfield, Thornton and Stanton-under-Bardon, as well as Leicester Forest East. The original buildings dates from 1935 but there have been additions since then. In 2001 a new mathematics and science block was opened comprising four mathematics and science rooms and an integral ICT room. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. Educational visits are also arranged to enhance the curriculum. The school aims to provide a secure environment in which each individual is valued.
