Background:
Guthlaxton Grammar school was built in the 1950s on a large green field site in Wigston, to the south of Leicester. It is a 14-19 community comprehensive with two of the three feeder schools situated on the same site. The school has specialist rooms across the curriculum, including 13 science laboratories and 10 computer laboratories. There is also a sports hall and a 24-hour all-weather pitch. As a designated Arts College, there is an auditorium with retractable seating, a music technology laboratory, recording studios and drama and dance studios. Guthlaxton is a member of the Technology Colleges Trust's Most Value Added Club. The school aims to create a welcoming environment suited to effective teaching and learning.
