Background:
A small village school, south-west of Leicester serving pupils from the village, local farms and the neighbourhood. Established in 1833, the 'attractive school of great character' occupies a building dating from 1853 with a number of additions and changes, although the original stained-glass window in the hall remains. A new, purpose-built reception classroom and medical room opened in 2001.Outdoor facilities include a garden with pond and trees, nature area, two hard playgrounds and a games field. A full range of national curriculum subjects is taught, with particular emphasis on music. Sports and chess are among popular extra-curricular clubs. The over-subscribed school has close links with the community, visiting the church regularly and raising money for a wide range of charities.
