Background:

Tugby Church of England Primary School is a small 100 year old school serving a rural community. Tugby School has four self-contained classrooms each with their own facilities. The reception children are taught in a newly refurbished classroom. There is a book corner, role-play area, computer workstation area, music area, wet play area and home corner. The Year 1 and 2 children are taught in splendid classroom built in 1999. The bright welcoming classroom has its own cloakroom and toilets, four computers with access to the internet and construct and art area. The Year 5 and 6 children are taught in the main building which also accommodates the office, staff-room, library and dining area. The classroom is well-equipped and has four up-to-date computers which have access to the internet and World Wide Web. The original building is still in use together with modern additions such as two playing fields and two playgrounds. The school uses the village hall for its indoor PE sessions and for some special events. This is a short walk away through the village.Sports are offered such as netball, football, athletics, kwik-cricket, rounders, hockey, tag rugby, gymnastics, dance and swimming. The Extra-curricular activities programme consists of dance, art, singing, gardening and ICT. Music lessons can be arranged through the school with Leicestershire Arts. The school aims to engender a climate of mutual respect, care and tolerance based on Christian values. The schools vision is to develop happy young people with enquiring minds, a spirit of curiosity, who have respect for themselves, others and the environment and who will have the technological skills and adaptability to cope in a rapidly changing world.
