Background:
Opened in 1777 by Joseph Thomson, the present building was finished in 1984. It is on the southern side of the village, well away from traffic and surrounded by open fields on three sides. The accommodation consists of a central hall equipped with physical education apparatus, five classrooms with individual access to the hall, a library, staffroom, the headteacher's office, a small cookery area for children and various storerooms and cloakrooms. Wyneswold's 'large' grounds include a football pitch, netball court and outdoor adventure playground. In addition there are two 'bushy hedgerows' and a ditch with enormous opportunities for games of 'dens' at playtimes. The school is 'well-equipped' and stocked with 16 computers. Its sporting teams are 'very successful', particularly in cross-country. The school is 'renowned' for its musical activities, and the 'great support' of a 'thriving' parent-teacher association.
